Wisdom for the new year - Proverbs 9

Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse,

and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.

Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;

reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;

teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,

and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. (Proverbs 9:7-10 ESV)

I know that I experienced this as a lost soul, someone telling you that you need to quit sinning...a person who is walking in darkness their whole life does not know what the light looks like! Point sinners to Christ, point them to His Word, that will open their hearts, not condemnation.

To the brother in Christ, in love, we need to point out short comings. Although equally uncomfortable, both people in a time of correction will be blessed. One will improve their character, the other will have more confidence in the Lord.

His Word never comes back void.

In Christ,
Steve
