Wisdom for the new year - Proverbs 7

My son, keep my words

and treasure up my commandments with you;

keep my commandments and live;

keep my teaching as the apple of your eye;

bind them on your fingers;

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"

and call insight your intimate friend,

to keep you from the forbidden woman,

from the adulteress with her smooth words. (Proverbs 7:1-5 ESV)

Our flesh is weak, there is no doubt. This chapter focuses on the adultress, but right in the beginning Solomon gives us the antidote to our struggles withh our flesh. "treasure up my commandments" don't just read the Word out of some begrudging submission (thanks @mattchandler74) but out of the attitude that it is a mine full of precious jewels.

This attitude overcomes our sinnful flesh and allows us to walk more like the beauty of Christ's time here on earth.
